Bell May Reprise Party Down Role
Season one of Party Down from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas has already aired in the US, and the buzz continues with talk of the new upcoming season.

Kristen Bell, who starred in the finale may reprise her role in the second season.

“We learn that Henry has been in a safe, if a bit unsatisfying relationship with Uda,” Thomas says. “We’re hopeful, but by no means certain, that Kristen might reprise this role for one episode.”

Other Veronica Mars vets Thomas would like to get on the show: Steve Guttenberg, who would play himself, Chris Lowell and Max Greenfield. Thomas also hopes to reteam with Bobby Cannavale, who starred on Thomas’ Cupid remake and is a fan of the show, and is “excited about the possibility of getting Amanda Peet in the show.”

No news yet of when the series will air in the UK.

Bell Talks Astro Boy
Kristen Bell—who has become a cult favorite for her roles in Heroes, Fanboys and Veronica Mars—is likely to extend her following as she lends her voice to the ultimate sci-fi franchise: She plays the new girl in Imagi Studios' upcoming 3-D animated feature-film version of the venerable Japanese Astro Boy series.

"I play Cora, who is a girl who befriends Astro when he comes down from Metro City onto the surface of Earth," Bell said in an interview last week at the Saturn Awards in Burbank, Calif. (She presented the award for best action/adventure film.) "She runs a little kind of like Peter Pan group of kids. She's pretty tough, pretty sassy."

The original Astro Boy series, based on the 1952 manga by Osamu Tezuka, is often credited as the first anime-style film. Like the original series, the new English-language movie centers on the origins of the robot boy who was created by a scientist who had lost his real son. Fans got their first peek at the new CGI incarnation of Astro Boy at New York Comic Con in February. Bell has seen footage throughout the process of animation.

"I've seen a lot of it, actually," Bell said. "It looks amazing. To be involved in the process is really exciting, because you see the layers that they put on, and you see when they don't have the 3-D involved and then when they do, and you see when it's just penciled out. It was a really interesting process."

Bell's part has not changed much throughout the visual development of the film, although she has had to re-record lines based on other voice actors' performances. "Sometimes when another character comes in and records and they like something they've done, you have to match it or be at a comparable state of mind in the scene, because you don't record with other people," she said. "Overall, it was a really easy, fun process."

For all her self-professed sci-fi obsessions, Bell was a newcomer to Astro Boy. Until now. "I didn't know Astro Boy at all, but now I'm immersed and have all the little toys and stuff," she said.

Summit Entertainment will release Astro Boy in theaters on Oct. 23.

Veronica Mars Movie Not Happening
Question: Your lack of reporting on the “Veronica Mars” movie has me feeling like it’s DOA. Any news on it? -- Andrew

Ausiello: Yep, but it ain’t good. At last weekend’s Saturn Awards, Kristen Bell told us, “I don’t think it will ever happen, and here’s why: (Series creator) Rob Thomas and I had a powwow, and we were both 100 percent on board. We took our proposal to Warner Bros. and Joel Silver told us that there is no enthusiasm (there) to make a ‘Veronica Mars’ movie, and that is unfortunately a roadblock we cannot compete with.”

But — like the rest of us, I suspect — she isn’t giving up hope. “Maybe if we bombard them with letters?” she suggests. “Maybe (then) they will change their tune.” What are you waiting for, a written invitation from “Veronica Mars” herself? Start bombarding Warner Bros. with letters!

Videos: Bell Speaks At How It Ends Rally

Kristen likes the BBC!:

Kristen said working with Invisible Children makes her feel less jaded. “Sometimes I feel very frivolous about my career in general, and I don’t often feel like I have a purpose,” she said.

She got involved after her “Veronica Mars” castmate Ryan Hansen introduced her to the cause about four years ago. “I was so moved I was almost paralyzed,” she said. In the past, Bell has held parties to raise awareness, featured Invisible Children on “Veronica Mars” and “rescued” Los Angeles with the group’s mass movement this year.

How It Ends For Kristen
Kristen Bell continued her work for organisation Invisible Children by joining the How It Ends event in Washington DC yesterday.

The two day event aims to raise awareness within congress of the plight of the child soilders in Uganda. Bell was a guest speaker there and along with others searched for support of a Bill put together to stop Joseph Kony, the man responsible for causing so much misery in Uganda.
