Video: Comic-Con Keeps Coming
So much is coming out of the days Kristen Bell spent at Comic-Con promoting animated action film Astroboy:

Although the appearance of Kristen is short in this video, it's also sweet. We agree with whoever says what she was doing looks like fun!:

From Wired.com:

Wired:com: We haven’t seen any images of Cora yet — what’s your character all about?

Kristen Bell: Cora is this very opinionated young lady with a tough exterior who’s kind of a scavenger. She’s the oldest of this group of runaway orphans who live on the surface of the Earth. She wears a mishmash of different colors and has a choppy little haircut to show how sassy she is.

Wired.com: Hovering above the surface of the Earth is Metro City, where all the rich people live, right?

Bell: Right. We’ve destroyed Earth, so it’s become this kind of a junk yard.

Wired.com: How does Cora hook up with Astro Boy?

Bell: When he falls to the surface of the Earth, Cora takes Astro Boy under her wing. She then feels extremely betrayed when she finds out he’s a robot. People are taught not to get too close to robots. They do not have a good reputation.

Wired.com: Astro Boy has this sort of special vibe worldwide — the TV series aired in more than 40 countries — but in the States, not that many people have actually seen the original show. Before you got cast in the movie, were you familiar with the comic book or the TV series?

Bell: Not at all. I was educated by our director, David Bowers, about the world of Astro Boy. He really is the Mickey Mouse of Japan. We think it’s time that Americans learn about Astro Boy.

Wired.com: Have you had a chance to see the final product?

Bell: I saw Astro Boy Monday night and I’ll tell you something embarrassing. I know the script, so I know where all the jokes are and I know when they’re going to tug on your heart strings, and I still laughed out loud, and I also got teared up. Maybe that’s pathetic, but to me, that speaks to how good the film is I guess.

Wired.com: Even though you’ve played some tough girls on TV, you’re actually a softie at heart.

Bell: You nailed it! That’s very true.

Wired.com: You’ve done the Comic-Con thing a few times before, right?

Bell: This is my fifth year. You’re a Comic-Con virgin? I’m a Comic-Con whore!

Ausiello Asks Bell
In a perfect world, Kristen Bell would be at Comic-Con promoting a Veronica Mars feature film. Instead, she’s here on behalf of Astro Boy, the forthcoming computer-animated 3-D flick based on the Japanese phenomenon in which she voices the role of Cora. (Freddie Highmore, who’s making the PR rounds with Bell, voices the title role.) But have no fear. I managed to get in a couple questions about Mars. And Gossip Girl.

More From Comic-Com!
The internet is full of little snippets from Kristen Bell at Comic-Con. Reading through them, we love that nobody has a bad word to say about the actress. Not that we're surprised, but we felt it needed pointing out anyway:

Movieline: My Favourite Scene

Greetings from Comic-Con, where Day One’s Avatar, Tron, and New Moon panels have all finally finished and a sense of postgeekdom depression has gripped the masses. Still, there’s at least one reliably perky person left in the Convention Center: delightful sprite/actress Kristen Bell! Our full interview with Miss Mars will be coming soon, but for now, enjoy this appetizer as Kristen Bell partakes in that old Movieline standby, My Favorite Scene.

Some actors are slow to pick their favorite movie moment, but not Bell. “When Chevy Chase is putting the lights up in Christmas Vacation,” she immediately announced. “Nothing has ever made me happier! When he pulls the bulb out and he goes, ‘Whoops, little knot here’ and he hands it to his son? And then he shoots the icicle through to his neighbors and Julia Louis-Dreyfus says, ‘Well why is the carpet wet, Todd?’ And the actor — I don’t know his name — goes, ‘I don’t know, Margot!’ It’s the best scene!”

At this point, her Astro Boy costar Freddie Highmore chimed in to mumble his unfamiliarity with the movie (forgive him, he’s British!), forcing Bell’s mouth to drop open in disbelief.

“You’ve not seen Christmas Vacation?” she said, then turning to me. “I’m sorry, I need to take him out back for a second.”

“I’ll just see that scene,” he protested.

“You need to see the whole thing. It’s so wonderful.”

Is a Chevy Chase scene Kristen's favourite because her Dad bore a remarkable resemblence to him in her earlier years?

Kristin Bell discovered long ago what Hollywood is just discovering.

“The fans here, they run the Internet,” says Bell, who stars in Heroes and Gossip Girl. “It’s become more about pop culture than just genre films. But they have more and more power over Hollywood.”

Not that she’s listening to everything fanboys have to say. She rarely trolls the Internet looking for nerd feedback.

“I learned a long time ago that if you believe the good reviews, you have to believe the bad,” she says. “They’re not afraid to give you the bad.”

Kristen gets the biggest cheer ever!:

And finally (for this update!):

MSN

At the round table interviews for the forthcoming "Astro Boy," Freddie Highmore and Kristen Bell spoke about working on the animated adaptation of the well-loved Japanese character. I asked Bell and Highmore what they liked about voice-over acting, aside from the obvious pleasure of being able to work in one's bathrobe. Bell lit up: "I still can't get over the pleasure of working in my bathrobe …" More seriously, Bell noted that it was nice to be part of a team: "You're such a small part of the process."

Highmore also spoke about the hope that "Astro Boy" will play for both kids and grown-ups: "There's such a range of emotions that you go through, it's a roller-coaster ride. We showed some clips, and people seemed to laugh in all the right places … and later, it gets darker and more adult." He also noted that the nature of working on animation didn't prevent he and his co-star from bonding: '"There are a lot of people involved, and it's hard when you're in a room on your own; I never was in the room with Kristen even though we're supposed to be great friends … but the tone seems right between the two characters, even though we never met."

Highmore was experiencing his first Comic-Con; Bell, a fearless veteran, noted how the Con had changed: "I am seeing more and more people that you would consider pop-culture media, and not just genre media. …" But even as it gets bigger, Bell's not being scared off: "Try to keep me away. Try to keep me away from Comic-Con!"

Full Astroboy Q&A Script
God loves a geek. Thanks to Superherohype.com who scribed the full Q&As at the Astroboy panel at Comic-Com. Here's KBell's answers. Click on the link above for the full transcript:

Q: Kristen, you've been mainly on-camera. Is this your first voiceover appearance?
Bell: Well, I do voiceover for a tv show called "Gossip Girl." (Lots of cheers from the audience) But this is really my first cartoon and it's a lot of fun. This is the first one where many members of the audience may be under 18 years of years. Is anyone under 18 years of age? (Shouts from the audience) So we have a few. Let's watch the language, Freddie, ok? From my perspective, there's a lot of work that goes into doing live action because you're on-set all day. You sort of have to be at the beck and call of the camera when it's set up. You have much longer days. There's a lot more fun in doing a cartoon, I think. You get to come in a see so many different aspects that you're really not involved in. You get to see from pencil sketches to when they animate it to when they add colors to when they add the 3D. There's really so many steps. There's so much work that you're not involved in. It's kind of neat to be a bystander and see it all come to life.
